Royal Australian Corps of Transport

I finish my tenure as Head of Corps today and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support I have received over the last two years.

The RACT today is in good shape - there will always be tensions as we work to resolve equipment issues and ensure that RACT personnel are recognised and remunerated for the skills they exhibit and the work they undertake in providing support as part of ADF tasking, but I know that some very good work over the last few years will begin to pay dividends in the near future in terms of equipment and career structures.

I have enjoyed the chance to meet a range of personnel over the last two years fiom our newest soldiers and officers to members of the Corps long retired but still active in the numerous Associations around Australia. This has reinforced to me the strength of the Corps - capable individuals keen to provide support, in often demanding circumstances, and others justly proud of their achievements that have laid a strong foundation for our Corps today.

I am also very conscious that the RACT benefits from the fact that both Regular and Reserve members of the Corps contribute to our capability - this is a real strength. I am mindful of the fact that RACT officers and soldiers are serving on operations or exchange in a variety of countries at the moment and ask that you keep them in your thoughts.

In undertaking the role of Head of Corps I have been greatly assisted by a range of capable personnel - the senior Trade Warrant Officers, staff in the Trade Management Cell and, very importantly, the hardworking Head of Corps Cell. I appreciate their collective efforts in supporting and educating me. Finally, I congratulate BRIG David Mulhall, AM, on his appointment as Head of Corps. BRIG Mulhall brings a wealth of RACT experience to the job and I know we will be in good hands in the years ahead with him as Head of Corps.
