2008 INTERNATIONAL AIR DISPATCH / RIGGER REUNION
September 1 - 7, 2008
Ho Chi Minh City, South Vietnam
This report is being brought to you direct from Ho Chi Minh City where 45, or 42 or 46???? people are here and of course doing what boys do best! (Sorry, that's from a womens perspective! Comes from having a women in charge of this website!)
Anyway most of us arrived here on Monday Sept 1 and all got together that night at a large brewery come restaurant for the usual welcomes, giddays, how have you been's etc.
Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) is as busy as it ever has been I guess although a couple of our group have been to Hanoi first and they think it was even busier there! How this city manages to only have 2 people killed each day on the roads when there are 2 million motorbikes and pushbikes is amazing. The driving is something to be experienced. Some of us tend to just look out the side of cabs or the bus, facing forward is just way too scary!
Anyway, check out some 'Faces of Saigon', our visit to Cu Chi Tunnels, have a look at the amazing and intriguing 'telephone/power?? wiring system and some general images of who's who.
Day 3
Saw us visit the War Museum, a couple of pagodas, the Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and some headed to the ex President's Renaissance Palace. It bucketed down with rain after lunch as we headed into the markets - no power! A bit of bargaining saw a few items come back onto the bus.
